About The Book

Still I Rise

“I am a recovering addict. I have had to learn this all as I went, the point of this book is to hopefully spare someone else that fate. “ Fate is like is a strange, unpopular restaurant, filled with odd little waiters who bring you things you didn’t ask for and don’t always like “                    -Lemony Snicket

I personally know this all too well. This book is not a how to get off drugs, it doesn’t hold all the answers. No, it’s just me sharing my story, the reasons I believe we become addicted to begin with and the things that I have found effective to overcoming said things and maintaining sobriety.

I do not have all the answers, but I paid a high price for the ones I do have. If I can spare someone else going through my heartaches, if I can learn from my mistakes and tell others how to avoid them, then why wouldn’t why? We should all be willing to share our knowledge and help our fellow people far more than we do. Less judging, more teaching.

I am not sharing my story to gain your sympathy, nor do I need your praise. I am sharing my story in hopes of inspiring someone, in hopes of giving them hope when they have none and because it helped me to heal by doing so. I hope you enjoy and find some information useful to you.

Still I Rise is a powerful memoir of addiction, healing, and second chances. Angelica Doty shares her deeply personal story with honesty and grace — a journey from brokenness to resilience, written to uplift, not preach. This book is for anyone who’s ever struggled, supported someone in pain, or searched for meaning in the hardest moments

“I am not sharing my story to gain your sympathy, nor do I need your praise. I am sharing my story in hopes of inspiring someone.”
